Family Matters Update

Nov 3, 2015 -- Posted by : admin

Hope everyone had a safe and spooky Halloween! As of now, Chapter 804 has collected over 30 pounds of candy to be mailed to the troops overseas. Please share your stories of anything you all have done – you may have done something that other Chapters would be interested in doing also.

I have started analyzing our Family Member count and below depicts where we are to date. I started with the statistics from May since that is about the time I started my position as D3 Family Matters Chair.

Chapter 804 had a huge increase and this is primarily due to the fact that quite a few of our Family Members were listed as Chapter Members on the roster. Please review your roster to ensure your Family Members are listed as AUX. HQ AFSA says we have had a decline in Family Members -- if everyone in AFSA reviewed their rosters, I bet we could really turn those numbers around.

On to another topic – November is the month of Thanksgiving. Does anyone have any fund-raisers, events, etc., planned they would like to share?

Listed below are some of the Chapter events posted on Facebook

  • 804 -- Veterans Appreciation Dinner on November 14th at the St. Michael’s Veterans Center – http://www.stmichaelsveterans.org. Chapter and Family Members will be participating in this event.
  • 872 – Will be participating in the Shiloh Police Department’s 6th Annual Veterans Vigil Run, November 6-7, to bring attention and pay tribute to all veterans, past and present. This year’s run is in honor of USAF Lt. Roslyn Schulte of St. Louis, who was the first female USAF Academy graduate to be killed in action in Afghanistan in the service of her country. Lt Schulte was killed by a roadside bomb at age 25.
  • 964 – Hosting a Lip Sync Battle on November 13th. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top group and solo performers. Admission is one canned good.
  • 984 – Sponsoring a Thanksgiving food drive for the month of November. Donations received will go directly to the 335 families on Offutt AFB that will receive a Thanksgiving basket this year. Until next time -- stay safe, God Bless, thanks for all you do for AFSA, but most of all Thank You for Your Service!
